BRITISH Speedway is ready to bounce back in 2017 – after the biggest revamp of the sport in modern history.

Club bosses have spent three days voting through plans to restructure league racing in the UK which sees both Rye House and second tier champions Somerset taking the plunge with promotion to the top flight.

And there’s good news for fans of troubled Leicester and Belle Vue with both clubs, who boast a rich heritage, ready to come to the tapes again – and at the top level.

EFFECTIVE immediately, the British Speedway Promoters’ Association (BSPA) have made the decision to revoke Belle Vue Aces’ (BVA) speedway promotion licence.

The move comes after concerns over the financial management of the Manchester-based club.

At the same time, Manchester City Council have also made the decision to not renew Belle Vue’s licence to occupy the National Speedway Stadium at Belle Vue, Manchester.

Gordon Steps Down As CEO

David Gordon has announced he is retiring and stepping down as Chief Executive Officer of Belle Vue Speedway but that he’ll maintain his close ties with and continue to support the club in the future.

The former CEO took over the world-famous Manchester club in late 2006 together with Chris Morton and Gordon Pairman and has been in control of the iconic Aces for the past ten seasons.

2016 Peter Craven Memorial Trophy

Belle Vue Speedway have made the decision to announce that the 2016 Peter Craven Memorial Trophy will not be run this season.

Tickets purchased for this event – which have not already been exchanged or refunded – will be valid for the re-staging in 2017, date to be confirmed, or any other 2017 Belle Vue Speedway meeting.
